2013 Clubhouse Renovation

We have exciting news!

With the recent move of the DYC Clubhouse to Northeast end of the marina near the entrance to "E" Dock, the DYC Board of Directors has partnered with the Dillon Marina and Town of Dillon to initiate an ambitious reconstruction and remodeling project designed to:

• Enhance the overall yacht club experience
• Expand our membership appeal
• Increase our ability to host national events
• Invest in our infrastructure
• Solidify the club's role as destination for visitors to the Town of Dillon
• Focus on a strategic plan for the near, and long-term future

The move has provided a great opportunity to remodel both the current building, deck and tent configuration in phases to better host racing, social and member events with a goal of creating an inviting "destination" for sailboat racers, cruisers, and power boaters who enjoy life on or by the water's edge of Lake Dillon.

Over the last two months, DYC Ensign member Chris Williams has been hard at work providing a vision for a significant enhancement to our overall usable space, a renovation of the inside of our clubhouse, and a major cosmetic facelift to the outside of our double-wide.

As you'll see, our building will no longer look like a doublewide!!!

The renovation project is easily defined in three phases. A few of the features planned for each phase of the new clubhouse premises include:

Deck & Tent Area:

◦ Expanded deck area extending between the clubhouse and the fully decked tent area.
◦ A built-in BBQ Grill
◦ Exterior sound system
◦ Projection TV beneath the DYC tent with live GPS race coverage via KATTACK of DYC Summer Series and Dillon Open Racing (recorded loop video of races displayed post-race for competitors)

Clubhouse Interior:

◦ A redesigned clubhouse interior that features a bar/kitchenette as well as an open floor plan to accommodate casual seating as well as classroom seating for meetings and presentations.
◦ A 24-hour weather station and video monitor
◦ A large screen TV monitor
◦ A white board for seminars, coaching sessions and meetings

Clubhouse Exterior:

◦ Water and sewer service to the clubhouse.
◦ Floor to ceiling windows and attractive "nautical" exterior theme achieved with inexpensive and reclaimed materials.
◦ Pass-through window from bar/kitchenette to outside deck
◦ Disabilities ramp to clubhouse entrance.

Additional Enhancements: In addition to the physical improvements, the renovation plan also calls for the eventual installation of additional facilities improvements including:

◦ P.A. and Sound system
◦ Kitchenette equipment inside to support the distribution and sale of beverages and light snacks (Hot Dog Roaster, Pizza Oven, Refrigerator, microwave, freezer, dishwasher, etc.),

Preliminary estimates to complete ALL 3 PHASES of construction are estimated to range between $70,000-$100,000 with volunteer labor assistance from club members this spring.

Final planning is currently underway with the Town of Dillon and the Dillon Marina with hopes of beginning a phased construction process in the next 2 weeks. Reconstruction of the deck and the clubhouse interior is targeted for completion by the first racing weekend of the 2013 season, while the finished exterior renovation is targeted for completion before the Dillon Open (subject to successful funding).

Combined, these initiatives will make a major statement to prospective members, the Town of Dillon, Summit County and to the national sailing community that the Dillon Yacht Club is a premiere yacht club destination, regional attraction, and inviting place to enjoy one of the most beautiful boating venues in the world.

Clubhouse Renovation Fund Established: Member Contributions Needed

Thanks to sound financial management by former Commodores Paul Kresge, Jeff O'Neill and Frank Keesling, the yacht club has been able to set aside significant funding to realize the first phases of this renovation. However, with a projected total investment exceeding the funds currently available to complete all phases designed, we are asking all DYC members, friends, and visitors to Dillon Yacht Club to generously contribute to our building renovation fund established on dillonyachtclub.com

We have targeted a goal of raising an additional $30,000+ to complete the renovation plans as designed this year and ask for your financial by helping to realize one of the most critical evolutions in the Dillon Yacht Club's 45-year history. All contributions will be graciously accepted and all contributors will be recognized with a special plaque prominently featured inside the clubhouse, and all will receive a special gift of thanks.
